Iron Dome

System Overview

What It Is

Iron Dome is Israel premier short-range air defense system that has successfully intercepted thousands of rockets and demonstrated capability against UAS.

How It Works

The system radar detects incoming threats and calculates impact points. If the target will hit a populated area, a Tamir missile is launched to intercept.

Primary Capability

Mobile air defense against short-range rockets, artillery, mortars, and increasingly UAS threats.

Combat Record / Operational History

Thousands of successful intercepts including against enemy drones.

Overview

While primarily designed for rocket defense, Iron Dome has demonstrated effective capability against UAS threats as well.
