Coming up on one year ago, the Administration issued the “ Unleashing American Drone Dominance” Executive Order, sending a clear signal that autonomy, uncrewed systems, and robotics are not just emerging technologies, they are critical to America’s economic strength, industrial competitiveness, infrastructure resilience, and national security future.
One year later, the American drone sector has more momentum than it has had in years. The question now is whether government and industry can convert that momentum into durable operational scale.
Across government and industry, we’ve seen a growing recognition that autonomy is no longer a future capability. It is a present-day strategic asset that must be scaled, secured, and operationalized. That shift has driven meaningful progress across advanced aviation, defense innovation, manufacturing, workforce development, and trusted technology deployment.
That timing feels especially meaningful as the nation approaches America 250, the official commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. While America 250 celebrates our history, it also challenges us to think about the innovations and industries that will define America’s next chapter.

Over the past year, AUVSI has worked alongside government leaders, industry innovators, operators, manufacturers, and end users to help translate the goals of the Executive Order into real-world progress.
