Ma défense et HighCom have been awarded a A$9.81 million contract by the Australian Department of Defence to deliver counter-drone capabilities, with systems scheduled for delivery by June 2026.

The contract follows an evaluation program conducted by the Australian Defence Force and is focused on deploying counter small UAS technologies. Under the agreement, MyDefence will provide the core systems, while HighCom Technology, a subsidiary of HighCom, will handle delivery and support services.

The companies said the award marks a key step in the rollout of operational counter-drone capabilities for the Australian military.

Focus on Indo-Pacific expansion

The contract also reflects MyDefence’s broader efforts to expand its presence in Australia and the Indo-Pacific region. The company indicated it plans to increase local engagement through collaboration with HighCom and end users, alongside strengthening in-country support capabilities.

“Drones are fundamentally reshaping modern conflict, as seen in Ukraine and across the Middle East, where access to airspace is increasingly contested. Armed forces are adapting rapidly, and counter-UAS capabilities have become mission-critical,” said Dan Hermansen, CEO of MyDefence.

“The selection by the Australian Defence Force validates the performance and operational relevance of our solutions following extensive testing and evaluation. This contract is not only an important delivery milestone, it represents a strategic step in our long-term commitment to Australia and the Indo-Pacific region.”

Counter-UAS is an increasingly critical defense priority in the Indo-Pacific region. The counter-UAS discussion in the area has developed significantly in recent years, with the first dedicated Indo-Pacific counter-UAS conference set to be hosted by SAE Media Group in October.

HighCom emphasized its role in supporting domestic integration and sustainment of the systems.

“This contract represents an important milestone for HighCom Technology and reinforces our role as a trusted partner to the Australian Defence Force. In collaboration with MyDefence, we are delivering a capability that meets Defence’s operational requirements while strengthening sovereign integration and support capabilities in Australia,” said Bede Galvin, Acting President of HighCom Technology.

“We are proud to support Defence with proven, operationally relevant solutions and look forward to supporting the Australian Defence Force moving forward.”

Delivery of the systems is expected to be completed by the end of June 2026.
