The Swedish Ministry of Defense (FMV) has ordered systems and equipment to counter drones as part of the implementation of the new Gute II concept for the amount of 8.7 billion Swedish kronor (approximately 756 million euros), according to a statement from FMV.
In particular, the Tridon Mk2 anti-drone system from BAE Systems Bofors with a truck-based 40 mm anti-aircraft gun, the Trackfire combat module from Saab with a 30 mm gun, a control system and passive and active sensors, including the Giraffe 1X radar, as well as transport platforms and electronic warfare equipment, including SISU vehicles and electronic countermeasure systems, have been ordered.
It is noted that in 2025, Sweden presented a preliminary version of the Gute anti-drone capability, developed in collaboration with industry, FMV and the Armed Forces. It is based on existing systems and created "taking into account lessons learned during the war in Ukraine". It includes a control and guidance system, active and passive sensors, electronic warfare, as well as 30- and 40-mm guns.
The Gute II includes a unified control and guidance system, active and passive sensors, electronic warfare equipment, as well as firepower based on 30- and 40-mm guns, including custom-made systems.
"This is a unique concept that we are now scaling up through serial orders. The subsystems are already in the Armed Forces, they are fully automated and relatively easy to master. They provide the ability to quickly and synchronously engage drones, which is crucial on the modern battlefield," said Jonas Lotsne, head of the FMV Army Materials Division.

According to him, this is an important step towards strengthening protection against drones, as well as the advantage that this can be achieved mainly through products from the Swedish defense industry.
Deliveries will begin in 2027 and continue until 2028.
In February, Defense reported that Sweden and Denmark would jointly purchase and deliver Tridon air defense systems to Ukraine for about $290 million to strengthen protection against Russian air attacks. The systems were developed by the Swedish division of BAE Systems – BAE Systems Bofors.
In January, the Swedish company Saab received an order from FMV for remotely controlled Trackfire Remote Weapon Station combat modules worth almost 140 million euros. Last December, Sweden also ordered Giraffe 1X compact radar stations from the national defense manufacturer Saab for about $71 million.
