Thales is pushing mine countermeasures beyond ships and naval bases, unveiling an expeditionary system designed to operate anywhere in the world.

The Expeditionary PathMaster is an AI-enabled tool that integrates manned and unmanned assets into a single mine warfare capability.

It can be operated from shore, a vessel, or a forward-deployed platform via a portable operations center, allowing naval forces to conduct mine countermeasure missions without relying on dedicated minehunters or fixed infrastructure.

In partnership with the Lithuanian Navy, Thales has already demonstrated the system’s versatility by integrating it with third-party units such as autonomous unmanned vessels, remote operated vehicles, and conventional mine hunting platforms.

“As seas become increasingly contested and navies face unexpected threats and challenges, mine countermeasures have become a key discipline to ensure the sovereignty and safety of critical infrastructures and sea lines of communication,” said Sébastien Guérémy, Underwater Systems Vice President at Thales.

“At Thales, we’re ahead of the curve. Expeditionary PathMaster is a turnkey game-changer: modular, scalable, and powered by artificial intelligence.”

PathMaster is powered by Thales’ cortAIx AI accelerator, which the company says can process sonar data up to four times faster than traditional systems while achieving a 99-percent classification accuracy.

Combined with the company’s M-Cube mission management system, this enables operators to run multiple analyses simultaneously and receive near real-time updates on detected objects.

“We’re bringing navies the digital transformation and dronization that give them the decisive edge — today and tomorrow,” Guérémy stated.

Expeditionary PathMaster has been confirmed ready for operational use.
