“Of course, we discussed how to strengthen our energy resilience. In the near future, Ukraine will receive generators from France. Additional deliveries of French aircraft, air defense missiles, and aerial bombs are also planned for this year,” Zelensky wrote.
The Ukrainian leader also expressed gratitude to Macron for offering condolences following a Russian strike on a passenger train in the Kharkiv region that killed five people.
In a post on X, Macron reaffirmed France’s support for Ukraine, condemning strikes on energy infrastructure across the country and saying: “We will support Ukraine for as long as necessary so that it can defend itself and repel the aggressive war waged by Russia.”
“France also remains firmly determined to increase pressure on Russia for as long as it evades peace,” he added. “We are working on new sanctions at the European level and will continue our efforts to restrict the activities of the ‘shadow fleet.’”
It was the latest demonstration of support for Kyiv from Paris after Macron announced on Jan. 16 that France had replaced the US as Ukraine’s main intelligence provider in its defense against the Russian invasion.
